After silence, that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music.
Aldous Huxley
Putting Music into the lesson can make it more fun. All I did was to go on either Google or Yahoo and hit Search for what I was looking for.
1. I found a website which had good songs for each letter of the alphabet.
I thought while teaching alphabet, the ‘traditional’ alphabet song is good but why not giving each letter some recognition?
2. Another idea would have to do with diversity or individuality.
I would ask my students to bring their favorite song lyric or music to class.
We would talk about it and discuss the choices. I see this opportunity as a connection to the student’s backgrounds.
3. I noticed that some teachers (especially 1st - 3rd Grade) use songs form TV shows to teach their students about the subjects.
This one time I watched a 1st grade study the vowels and the teacher was singing the songs from the show 'Between the Lions'.
4. Even though it might be a bit silly, I find this way of teaching very effective because the students can have an easier time to learn anything difficult just by songs. The teachers might check if any difficult topic can be changed into a song!
